Power Beacon Placement for Maximizing Guaranteed Coverage in Bistatic Backscatter Networks

نویسندگان

چکیده

The bistatic backscatter architecture, with its extended range, enables flexible deployment opportunities for devices. In this paper, we study the placement of power beacons (PBs) in networks to maximize guaranteed coverage distance (GCD), defined as from reader within which devices are able satisfy a given quality-of-service constraint. This work departs conventional energy source problems by considering performance additional link on top transfer link. We adopt and optimize symmetric PB scheme GCD. optimal under is obtained using either analytically tractable expressions or an efficient algorithm. Numerical results provide useful insights into impacts various system parameters resulting GCD, plus advantages adopted over other benchmark schemes.

Aggregate node placement for maximizing network lifetime in sensor networks

Sensor networks have been receiving significant attention due to their potential applications in environmental monitoring and surveillance domains. In this paper, we consider the design issue of sensor networks by placing a few powerful aggregate nodes into a dense sensor network such that the network lifetime is significantly prolonged when performing data gathering. Specifically, given K aggr...

Coverage-Guaranteed Sensor Node Deployment Strategies for Wireless Sensor Networks

Deployment quality and cost are two conflicting aspects in wireless sensor networks. Random deployment, where the monitored field is covered by randomly and uniformly deployed sensor nodes, is an appropriate approach for large-scale network applications. However, their successful applications depend considerably on the deployment quality that uses the minimum number of sensors to achieve a desi...

Adaptive Beacon Placement

Beacon placement strongly affects the quality of spatial localization, a critical service for context-aware applications in wireless sensor networks; yet this aspect of localization has received little attention. Fixed beacon placement approaches such as uniform and very dense placement are not always viable and will be inadequate in very noisy environments in which sensor networks may be expec...

Regenerator Placement with Guaranteed Connectivity in Optical Networks

The problem of minimizing the number of optical nodes with signal regeneration capability can be constrained to guarantee a desired degree of end-to-end connectivity in the all-optical transport network. The problem can be formulated using a k-connected, k-dominating node set, which is a known approach in mobile ad hoc wireless networks. This paper presents a preliminary study aimed at establis...
